10 QUESTIONS …

Jamie Lamphier

Profession: Professional dog handler

Dog-sport involvement: Third-generation breeder-owner-handler

Hometown: White Post, Virginia

Astrological sign: Cancer

1. Do you have any dog-show superstitions?

Absolutely. Always four rubber bands; if they are “losers,” start over the next day. Also, each special has its own custom leash.

2. TV-show guilty pleasure?

“The Blacklist” and “Friends” on repeat.

3. If you were president of AKC for one day, what would you do?

This question is hard. That is not a job I would want, but if I was in charge for a day I would probably try and do individual state meet-the-breeders events a few times a year. The public has a bad thought of breeders simply because they do not get to meet and just talk to them.

4. Most valued material possession?

My dog, Ovechkin.

5. What is something no one would guess about you?

I am not that interesting! My mom, the real name of Erinfyr Setters, has been breeding Irish Setters for almost 45 years now!

6. Who would you compare yourself to?

I am an original. I do not want to be like anyone, but there are people with certain attributes that I strive to have. I will let you guess who.

7. What are you “famous” for?

Irish Setter lady and Griff mom.

8. What website do you visit most often?

Infodog and Facebook.

9. What was more memorable, your most satisfying win or disappointing defeat? And what was it?

My most satisfying win would have to be my second Best in Show, breeder-owner-handled on my dog Ovechkin with my mom in attendance.

10. What do you wish someone would ask you?

“Would you like me to watch your dad and the dogs, and you go spend a week on the beach? Also, turn your cell phone off.”
