With A New Year…New Attitudes
Beginning of every new year, brings new hopes and wishes and attitudes. As we age New Year resolutions fall by the wayside, because we learned long ago that we fail to live up to those self imposed expectation. What are ever present are hope and wishes. So here are some hopes and wishes in no particular order or preference.
A Facebook posting that does not include a photograph of someone lying in a hospital bed hooked up with tubes and an oxygen mask. Or someone lying in a hospital bed with a leg in traction with a thumbs up. The written word suffices. Asking for prayers for some unnamed person or pet makes no sense at all. Photos of you in a restaurant with a plate of a just served meal, isn’t that novel, we all eat. Finally, frankly no one cares about your political leanings. You certainly are entitled to your own opinions, but a little civility goes a long way. You can respect each other’s opinions without the hatred and rudeness that screams off the screen. It does serve a purpose; it can be informative and educational and updates us on news both happy and sad. But what brings us all together is our love of dogs. A common interest that spans all colors, races, creeds and religions and nationalities. We all come from different walks of life and we should learn to respect each other’s opinions and thoughts, even when they don’t coincide with yours. With a world in turmoil, we need now more than ever need to be more understanding of each other. To use communication skills to bring us closer together not to conquer and divide. Some of the postings border on liable and threatening. We don’t need sites where exhibitors can vent and criticise judges for their decisions. It’s not rocket science, just don’t exhibit under them. There are enough shows you can attend. Now turn that scenario around where judges have sited and critiqued your dog by name, how would you feel if that judge posted their opinion of your dog? So, keep in mind that while your opinions matter, there is a kinder and gentler way of expressing yourself. With that said, all of us at Dog News wish you a Happy, Healthy and prosperous New Year.
