The AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB has announced the winners of the 2025 AKC HUMANE FUND AWARDS FOR CANINE EXCELLENCE better known as the ACE AWARDS. “Each year, the AKC HUMANE FUND ACE AWARDS remind us of the extraordinary ways dogs enrich, protect, and uplift our lives and the 2025 winners are nothing short of remarkable” said BRANDI HUNTER MUNDEN president of the AKC Humane Fund. The winners were selected from a field of nearly 700 dogs that were nominated in several categories. ROBERTA HOCKENBERRY’S Golden Retriever SYD won for Exemplary Companion, SUE STEJSKAL’S English Springer Spaniel MAPLE won for Search & Rescue Dog Human Detection, JENNIFER MICHELSON’S German Shepherd Dog FLINT won for Search & Rescue-Disaster Response, BUDDY NINER’S Labrador Retriever BEA won for Service Dog, STEVEN ZONIS’ Standard Poodle RUDY won for Therapy Dog, DEPUTY GABRIEL JASSO handled Bloodhound KEVA who won for Uniformed Services K-9, and in Teams the CRISIS RESPONSE CANINES from Blackwood, New Jersey. Congratulations to all the winners and the dogs they have trained to a vital part of our society. The Thanksgiving Black Friday sales shopping frenzy wasn’t lost on the American Kennel Club’s Canine College offering breed courses with a 75% discount. This warning might be too late for Thanksgiving but early enough for the upcoming holidays. A list of do’s and don’ts of fruits and vegetables that you can feed to your dogs: On the list of allowable foods Milk, Peanut Butter, Peanuts, Popcorn, Pork, Quinoa, Salmon, Bread, Cashews, Cheese, Coconut, Corn, Eggs, Fish, Ham, Honey, Shrimp, Tuna, Turkey, Wheat, Grains and Yogurt. On the list of fruits and vegetables to avoid feeding to your dog include Avocado, Cherries, Grapes, Tomatoes, Asparagus, Mushrooms, Onions, Almonds, Cinnamon, Ice Cream, Macadamia Nuts, and Garlic, how many of you have cooked liver with garlic for bait? and finally not to mention chocolate but most dog owners are aware of the dangers from chocolate.
