Crufts rules announced, Teddy Roosevelt Terrier in the wings

THE ROYAL KENNEL CLUB has sent a press release concerning the qualifications for entering the 2026 CRUFTS DOG SHOW to be held on March 5 through 8. There are certain qualifications for entry to the show, but those dogs with cropped ears and/or tails are not eligible by law to compete at CRUFTS. For those who want to exhibit at CRUFTS, there are rules and regulations you must follow to enter. Even though the dog show is held at the NEC in Birmingham, the Birmingham airport is not a legal entry into the United Kingdom for those traveling with dogs. Those in the know travel to Paris or Amsterdam for easier and hassle-free entry into the U.K. Entries by mail close on Monday, January 5, 2026, and online entries close January 19, 2026. The four-day event has Working and Pastoral breeds and groups judged on Thursday, March 5; Terrier and Hound breeds and groups on Friday, March 6; Utility and Toy breeds and groups on Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, will be Gundog breeds and group and Best in Show. It is now a museum open to the public, complete with the furnishings and trophies that the family lived with. ...

Also in AKC news, three-legged dogs, known as tripods, will now be permanently allowed to compete in the non-jumping obedience and rally classes effective July 1. The only jumping my four-legged dogs can do is getting on the couch on the first try without breaking a leg. I do reward them for this Herculean task. ...
