Remembering beloved ex-handler and AKC rep Sue Vroom

SUE VROOM … What could I possibly write that would describe this magical light force who captivated me for more than 40 years? SUE succumbed to pneumonia Tuesday evening in Texas. The stories and the memories over more than four decades are bountiful and treasured. From Springers, Tibetan Terriers and Bouviers, her love and interest in all breeds and knowledge of them was second to none. In a competitive sport in which they played in the highest echelon, CORKY & SUE achieved unparalleled heights, a lasting testament to their skill, knowledge and sportsmanship. They piloted three dogs to Number One All Breeds and countless others that are still top winners in their breeds to this day. Always pleasant and cheerful, SUE could calm any stress that might have occurred.

After CORKY & SUE retired, they moved to Texas, a place she knew well from her handling days. SUE fit in right away, not always the case in that part of the country, and became a field rep. Her ease with people and ability to defuse any situation made her a natural. She meant a lot to me, and I loved her more than I can say. Two important ladies in my life, LESLEY BOYES and now SUE VROOM, left us within months of each other. We send our deepest sympathies to SUE’S son AARON MEAD and family and to her many friends around the country. Let’s end with there is a place in heaven for someone who could keep CORKY and NAT & GLORIA REESE happy together at the same time. Rest easy, my friend. Flowers and cards can be sent to 109 Lakeside Drive, Shady Shores, TX 76208.
