Some interesting facts and figures for the upcoming MORRIS & ESSEX KENNEL CLUB dog show. Forty clubs will be holding their specialties, 101 clubs are supporting their entries. There will be 31 rings with 62 stewards. In order for MRS. DODGE’S record number of 4,556 dogs (not entries – in those days there were no sweepstakes or veteran classes) for an outdoor event to hold and not be broken, the entry will be limited to 4,555 dogs. Some records are just meant to be broken. ...

Congratulations to ADAM & DEVON KIPP LEVY on their announcement that they are expecting their first child, a boy in December. ...

Missing from the rings this Westminster, professional handler CLINT LIVINGSTON is recuperating from major surgery. He will be sidelined for a while, and all of us at DOG NEWS send our very best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery. ...

Long-time Standard Schnauzer breeder and exhibitor from Long Island LEONA MINTZ has passed away. She passed a love of dogs down to her daughter, professional handler ROZ MINTZ FOSCO. The funeral was held on Thursday and the family in keeping with the Jewish faith will sit shiva at the MINTZ residence. All of us at DOG NEWS send our deepest sympathies to the entire family. ...

STEVE WATERS has passed away at the young age of 56. STEVE & EVELYN WATERS from Claypool, Indiana, must have set a record, as all seven of their children – six boys and one girl – show dogs. Successfully exhibiting Wire Fox Terriers and Miniature Pinschers, their son JACOB is a top junior handler. A graveside service was held on Wednesday in Warsaw, Indiana. All of us at DOG NEWS send our deepest sympathies to the entire family. ...

As notice comes informing members of the ENGLISH KENNEL CLUB AGM (annual general meeting), word comes of the passing of JEAN LANNING, an honorary life member of the KENNEL CLUB who was outspoken and not shy about voicing her opinions, especially at the AGMs. A Great Dane breeder under the Clausentum prefix, JEAN was a published author and enjoyed a judging career that took her around the world, including the Westminster Kennel Club. ...

We were very saddened to hear that handler BILL MCFADDEN was involved in a car accident in Laramie, Wyoming, in which he sustained a compression fracture to his neck and several broken ribs. Thankfully, his assistant and the dogs were not injured. TAFFE flew to Wyoming bring him home. Hope he is up and about soon; we’ll miss seeing him this weekend.
