AKC celebrates clubs with 100 years of service

Isn’t it reassuring that in this day and age, where youth is so important, that we celebrate those proud to be counted and acknowledged as among the oldest in our community. Those reaching a centennial in any category, be it human or institutional, deserve to be recognized and congratulated for attaining that pinnacle. If we were English and you celebrated your 100th birthday, you would receive a birthday card from Queen Elizabeth II. If the Queen of England can find time to acknowledge this milestone, we here at home should do the same.

So, with all the respect and recognition for soldiering on these last 100 or more years, Dog News salutes the kennel clubs that have been holding events through two world wars, several lengthy conflicts, a depression and, closer to home, for setting the example that even different factions in a kennel club can and do think of the greater good. According to the American Kennel Club, there are some 23,000 organized dog events per year, so these survivors deserve to be recognized. And so we share the list below.
