Westminster delayed, pet revenues plunge, AKC Breeders of the Year by sport

The postponement of the WESTMINSTER KENNEL CLUB show that would have taken place the beginning of next week has left an unexpected weekend off for those who were planning on attending. That postponement caused the cancellation of the black-tie PURINA® PRO PLAN® SHOW DOGS OF THE YEAR AWARDS DINNER partnered with DOG NEWS. Great disappointment to all who organized this most popular event, as the dinner was in the final phase of happening. All is on hold at the moment. ...

The huge increase in those using the pet-food and supply company CHEWY to have those items delivered to their door grew by 24 percent from the previous year, thanks to the increase of pet ownership during the height of the pandemic. Now that things have slowed somewhat, the company has seen an 8 percent drop in their shares, and PETCO has seen their shares down 31 percent. ...

The passing of JOE GREGORY, a true Kentucky gentleman, has stunned the world of purebred dogs. Youthful, spry and trim, JOE never let age catch up with him. His life took him from breeder and record-breaking professional handler with his Boxer to all-breed judge. He succumbed to cancer at the age of 94 at his Simpsonville, Kentucky, home. His passing closed a chapter in the history of our sport, and he will be deeply missed. Our deepest sympathies to his daughter EVALYN and son JOE, Junior. ...

Well-known and popular member of the Fort Worth Kennel Club MARGE COOK has passed away. MARGE conducted handling classes years ago and had as one of her future stars JOHNNY SHOEMAKER, long before he discovered anything shiny. Our deepest sympathies to her family and many friends. Happy Wedding Anniversary to HARRIET & GEORGE MURRAY. Celebrating Birthdays … two ageless and active ladies PATRICIA CRAIGE TROTTER and JEANNE LOGAN HETHERINGTON, AMY GREEN, PEGGY HELMING, NANCY MARTIN, MARCELO VERAS, SARAH LAWRENCE, SUSAN GILES, JOAN HUBER, BILLL SAHLOFF, DARYL MARTIN, PENNY DUGAN, MICHAEL WORK, JOHN WADE, MANDY CARLSON, KAREN BRUNEAU, LINDA HOF, JESSICA PLOURDE, CHUCK KROTHE, JO ANNE MITTLEMAN, CATHERINE BELL, RHANDA GLENN, SHARON NEWCOMB and PHIL BRIASCO.
