1. Do you have any dog-show superstitions?
That I must wear a unique blazer, or devastating weather will strike.

2. TV-show guilty pleasure?
Well, I don’t believe that any pleasure should be guilty, but The Office has been on constant loop in my home since 2010.

3. If you were president of AKC for one day, what would you do?
First, I’d help the Museum move into a bigger, more affordable and higher-traffic space. Second, I’d declare it the AKC’s living room, where every dog lover, from champion handler to city kid meeting their first purebred dog, feels at home.

4. Most valued material possession?
My passport—it’s the one possession that proves experiences are worth more than things

5. What is something no one would guess about you?
I had hair down past my shoulders from age 16-21

6. Who would you compare yourself to?
I try not to compare myself to anyone, but if pressed, maybe a Newfoundland in human form: steady, friendly, and occasionally drooling over a cheeseburger

7. What are you “famous” for?
My meatloaf. Or perhaps some of those blazers that prevent hard weather at dog shows.

8. What are your thoughts on Social Media?
Most days I wish it had never been invented—but then Elizabeth Salewsky posts, and suddenly the world is good again.

9. What was more memorable, your most satisfying win or disappointing defeat? And what was it?
Losing the high school pole-vault state championship by a single inch. I learned two things that day: hold your head high no matter what... and that gravity always wins.

10. What do you wish someone  would ask you?
“How many zeros would you like me to put on my donation to the Museum?”
