This past weekend the HUNTINGTON VALLEY KENNEL CLUB and the PENN RIDGE KENNEL CLUB under the KEYSTONE CLUSTER umbrella held their shows at the Meadow Event Center in Doswell, Virginia, where LIZ MUTHARD and CHARLIE OLVIS once again ran another successful annual benefit for TAKE THE LEAD. The event was held at the Meadow Farm Mansion. Meadow Farm was the home of two immortal racehorses, RIVA RIDGE and SECRETARIAT, and you can visit the barn and stall where they once lived. LIZ and CHARLIE work tirelessly to put on a great event each year, raising tens of thousands of dollars for charity. Next year the dog shows will be back at the Lebanon Expo Center, an indoor venue in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. ...

Since my first visit to a Southern California dog show in the very early ’70s, the Afghan Hound breed ring was a very formidable and competitive arena. Always in the mix were GEORGJEAN & DON JENSEN with their PAMIR bred dogs. Sadly, DON passed away this week on the 12th. Just last week, just days before his passing, I congratulated them on their 66th wedding anniversary. All of us at DOG NEWS send our condolences to GEORGJEAN and family and their extended family, longtime handlers and dear friends TARA & BRUCE SCHULTZ.
