The Friday-evening KENNEL CLUB OF PHILADELPHIA and TAKE THE LEAD dual event was by all accounts a huge success. A large turn-out, with members of the kennel club and board members and supporters of TAKE THE LEAD mingling to help a great cause. Members of the “BROTHERLY LOVE” CLUB included WAYNE FERGUSON, STANLEY BROADBENT, CONNIE & DUANE BUTHERUS, MILAN LINT, FRANK & JUDY DEPAULO, HARRY BOOKER, DAVE FREI, PETER GREEN, BETH SWEIGART, CYNTHIA & STEVEN SANSONE, JIMMY MITCHELL, MARI-BETH O’NEILL, DEBBIE SCOTT and MICHAEL HALSTEAD. They were joined by several board members of TAKE THE LEAD, including TOM BRADLEY, DOTTIE COLLIER, MARY MILLER, CINDY VOGELS, SUSAN SPRUNG, RANDY GARREN, JEFFREY PEPPER, PAM BEALE and AMY GREEN. Among those supporting the evening were TERRY HUNDT, HONI REISMAN, FRAN REISMAN, KAREN JUSTIN, REMY SMITH-LEWIS, DONALD STURZ, JAN RITCHIE GLADSTONE, AMY & ANDREW GREEN, DAVID FITZPATRICK, LISA & HARRY MILLER, JOHN MILLER, LIZA GALLIZZO, KATIE & ADAM BERNARDIN and a little bundle of joy, ANNEMARIE & RANDY KUBACZ, PETER KUBACZ, MORGAN MILLER, CHRIS & RALPH MILLER and GAIL MILLER BISHER. ...

At the shows in Columbus, Ohio, all-rounder LIZ MUTHARD was taken ill, resulting in her having her gall bladder removed. Good news: She is out of the hospital and recovering. DAVID MILLER was judging in Colombia, South America, where he had a bad fall that resulted in a broken femur and a hip replacement. Wishing LIZ and DAVID a complete and speedy recovery. ...

The numbers are in for the upcoming AKC NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY ROYAL CANIN. All 200 registered breeds are entered. The total entry is 5,762. The breakdown of the biggest entries are 147 Golden Retrievers, 137 Dachshunds (all varieties), 130 Australian Shepherds, 113 French Bulldogs, 103 Labrador Retrievers, 90 Chihuahuas (both varieties), 87 Rhodesian Ridgebacks, 74 Poodles (all varieties), 69 Whippets, 65 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, 59 Doberman Pinschers and 56 Boston Terriers.
